SUMMARY
Tier one Commercial Bank is required to comply with various regulatory requirements and be able to prove the validity of reported data based on a well-managed data environment. Similarly, the business has increasing demands for leveraging data more quickly and for a more varied set of use cases. Exusia was engaged to develop a capability for managing metadata, cataloging data sources and their respective data lineage across the enterprise, including developing an automated solution to increase the quality and consistency.
Problem Statement
- The firm was required to submit proof of data management capabilities, including managing system metadata and complete data lineage for identified critical data elements, as part of regulatory filings and reports – failure to do so submits the firm to a risk of being fined for non-compliance.
- Business requirements increased the demand for timely access to data sources across the enterprise while improving ease of use.

- Assessed to the end-to-end processes for managing metadata
- Evaluated automated offerings for ingesting and cataloging technical metadata to be integrated with a firm’s business glossary
- Deployed a set of processes to engage with system owners across the enterprise to catalog technical metadata and devise a data lineage
- Integrated technical metadata with the Collibra-based business glossary to improve access to data assets while satisfying regulatory reporting requirements
