Valerie Chianuri
Global Legal & Compliance

Valerie Chianuri is a Partner at Exusia, Inc.  Valerie’s responsibilities encompass the firm’s global Efficiency Practice, with oversight of the Americas, Africa and Asia legal, compliance, and operations functions.  In this role, Valerie leverages her extensive legal, advisory and managerial experience to develop corporate expansion strategy and build infrastructure in furtherance of Exusia’s rapid growth plans.  Valerie’s initiatives address current legal and operational needs with scalability for future requirements of Exusia’s innovative data management vision.

Valerie’s experience spans the gamut of executive, legal, consulting, and operational for large multinational organizations, as well as emerging companies.  Valerie worked as a compliance and privacy manager at American Express where she focused on designing and implementing anti-money laundering and privacy policies across the global organization.  Additionally, she provided technology risk consultancy services to large multinational clients in the financial services, energy and software sectors at Deloitte and ran the legal and compliance organization for the U.S. arm of a UK-based e-commerce company.  Immediately prior to joining Exusia, Valerie practiced payments law at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, advising card issuers, financial institutions, and emerging payment companies on a wide range of operational and regulatory matters, including compliance and enforcement-related issues, as well as structuring and negotiating commercial agreements and third-party contracts.

Valerie holds an undergraduate degree in Finance, as well as Management and Organizational Communications, from New York University, Stern School of Business.  Valerie also received a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School.  She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, a Certified Information Privacy Professional and has presented on a number of topics at the Federal Communications Bar Association, Legal Week Global Corporate Counsel Forum and the New York State Wireless Association.
